The weather played havoc with all three Witham teams playing away. They were all cancelled without a ball being bowled.
Two Counties - Division 2
Witham 1st X1 208-7 v Brockley 202-10
The 1st X1 entertained Brockley at the Park. Witham skipper, Peter Allen, won the toss and decided to bat. Witham's opening batsmen Michael Headley and Kaan Hawes raced to 68 off 10 overs before Headley was out for 34 - this included six 4's. Richard Green joined Hawes but failed for the first time this year. Witham lost Jamie Rogers, Jake Wakelin and Kaan Hawes and were tottering 146-6. Leroy Facey, playing his first game of the season after a hand injury, steadied the ship and with the help of Dan Ward raised the score to 203 before Facey was out for a superb 75 leaving Ward not out 12. Witham after their 45 overs were 208-7.
Brockley's opening pair started like Witham's batsmen scoring at 6 an over for the first eleven overs. Jake Wakelin was bought into the attack and instantly bowled J Reed for 37. J Fisher kept Witham bowlers at bay however Wakelin continued to bowl a good spell of controlled spin bowling taking the first 6 wickets in his allocated 15 overs.He finished with figures of 6-30, Peter Allen took the wicket of M Boreham and in the pursuit of runs Brockley lost their last three wickets all run-outs. J Fisher continued through the innings and went on to score a brilliant 122 not out. Paul Bellehewe bowled Fisher but to judged to have stepped over the crease and Peter Allen missed a difficult caught and bowled. However in the 45 over Brockley were all out for 202 leaving Witham winners by 6 runs and collecting 20 valuable points.
